How Much Does Local SEO Cost? A Guide for Small Businesses

Local SEO cost guide showing three monthly plans and a scope picker

By Anus Anwar. Last reviewed November 4, 2026

How much does local SEO cost? There is no standard price, because providers sell different amounts of work under the same name. This guide uses MW Marketers’ own plans as one concrete reference, then shows what changes a local SEO cost and what a quote should list.

MW Marketers sells local SEO, so we have an interest in this topic. We have not tested other providers’ prices, and we do not compare against them. What we can show is how our own prices map to the work listed, so you can use the same questions on any quote you get.

Quick answer

MW Marketers’ local SEO plans cost $850, $1,500 or $2,750 per month, depending on locations, market competition and monthly workload. There is no standard price across providers, so compare quotes by what they list: pages, citations, content, links and reporting. No provider can promise rankings.

How much does local SEO cost per month?

The honest answer is that it depends on the scope. MW Marketers sells three monthly local SEO plans, listed below as they appear on our Local SEO page on November 4, 2026. They are one reference, not a market average.

Starter

$850 per month

Single location, low competition

  • Profile optimization with 2 posts a month
  • Homepage plus 2 existing pages
  • 15+ citations with NAP cleanup
  • 2 backlinks a month
  • Monthly ranking report

Growth

$1,500 per month

Everything in Starter, with more of each

  • Profile with 4 posts a month and photo updates
  • Up to 4 existing pages
  • 2 new local pages or blogs a month
  • 35+ citations
  • 4 local backlinks a month
  • Monthly report and a strategy call

Premium

$2,750 per month

Competitive markets, up to 3 locations

  • Up to 3 profiles with 4 posts each a month
  • Up to 8 existing pages and 3 location pages
  • 4 new content pieces a month
  • 50+ citations
  • 8 backlinks a month
  • Quarterly audit and fixes
  • Competitor and call tracking
  • Biweekly calls
  • A dedicated manager

Read the plans by the work listed, not only the price. The jump from one plan to the next brings more page work, content, links and reporting or support, and Premium also covers up to three locations. The Growth listing does not state how many locations it covers, so ask before you choose it. Our plans cover SEO only and assume you already have a website. We do not promise rankings.

What changes the cost of local SEO?

Seven things move the price of any local SEO quote. They are the author’s summary of how the work scales, not a formula.

  1. Number of locations

Each eligible business location may need its own Google Business Profile. A dedicated location page can also help explain the services at that location. More locations generally mean more work to set up and maintain.

  2. How crowded your market is

If many strong businesses already appear for your main service, there is generally more work to do to compete with them. A quiet market may need less.

  3. Pages that need work

Your homepage and each main service or location page may need changes so they match what people search for. The more pages, the more hours.

  4. New content each month

Extra local pages and blog posts add to the monthly workload. Compare how many pieces each provider includes, and whether they create new pages, update existing ones or do both.

  5. Links and citations

Other sites linking to you add to prominence, Google says. Listings that repeat your name, address and phone number (NAP) should match your profile. Plans differ in how many they list.

  6. Reporting and support

Reporting frequency, strategy calls and a dedicated manager all affect how much ongoing support is included. Decide how much communication and guidance you need.

  7. Where you start

A profile that is missing, unverified or inconsistent may need cleanup before any growth work. That can change the first months.

Which local SEO scope fits your business?

Answer four quick questions to see which of our listed plans is the closest starting point for your business. This is a planning aid, not a quote or a recommendation based on a full website audit. It takes about 30 seconds, and nothing you pick is stored or sent.

Question 1 of 4

How many locations does the business have?

The tool uses your highest-scoring answer to select a starting plan. Businesses with four or more locations or more than eight existing pages needing work fall outside the three listed plans. Your actual scope and price may differ.

What should a local SEO quote list?

Whoever you ask, a useful quote spells out the work. Compare any local SEO services pricing offer against this list before you say yes.

  • The exact deliverables, with a number for each one (pages, citations, posts, links).
  • What is done monthly and what is done once.
  • The reporting you receive and how often you talk to someone.
  • Contract length and how to stop.
  • What is not included, so you are not surprised later.
  • No promise of a ranking or a position. Google says there is no way to request or pay for a better local ranking.

If a quote is short on detail, ask for the missing numbers. You can also read what local SEO is and how it works first, so you know what the words in a quote mean.

Can I do local SEO myself for less?

Partly, yes. A Google Business Profile is free, and Google says you can manage how your business shows up on Maps and Search at no charge. A prioritized list of local SEO actions shows what to do yourself and in what order. Paid help covers the parts that take time or skill, such as pages, listings, content and reporting.

Author’s judgment

If you have one location and few strong competitors, a smaller scope may be enough, and you can do the free profile work yourself first. If many businesses already fill the map for your service, expect to need more monthly work. In either case, judge a plan by the work it lists, not by a promise.

Is local SEO worth paying for?

That depends on what a new customer is worth to you and how many you need. Nobody can promise a result, so treat the cost as an investment with an uncertain return. To think it through, read whether SEO is worth it for a small business and how long local SEO usually takes, since results do not appear overnight.

If you also want the wider picture across all SEO work, what SEO costs a small business covers the pricing models in general.

FAQ about local SEO cost

How much does local SEO cost per month?

There is no standard price. MW Marketers’ plans are $850, $1,500 and $2,750 per month, and the price depends on locations, competition and how much work is listed. Other providers may price differently, so compare what each quote includes.

Why do local SEO prices vary so much?

Providers include different amounts of work. One may list a handful of citations and a report. Another may list content, links, calls and several locations. Two quotes with the same name can describe very different services.

Does a higher price guarantee better rankings?

No. Google says there is no way to request or pay for a better local ranking, and no provider can promise one. A higher price usually buys more work, not a guaranteed result.

Is a Google Business Profile free?

Yes. Google says you can manage how your business shows up on Maps and Search at no charge. Paid local SEO covers work around the profile, such as pages, listings, content and reporting.

What should I do next?

  1. Count your locations and the pages that need work.
  2. Search your main service and note how many strong local businesses appear.
  3. Use the scope picker above and compare the result with any quote you have.
