There is no single standard price for an SEO audit, because two audits with the same name can cover very different work. A low quote and a high quote can both be fair, if what you receive matches what you pay. This guide shows what actually moves the price, what a quote should state, and how to check a quote before you buy. It includes the published prices of the SEO audit at MW Marketers as one reference point.
SEO audit prices vary because scope varies. Price mostly follows page count, how much a person reviews by hand, and what you receive at the end. Compare quotes by scope first and price per page second. MW Marketers’ published audit fees are $199 to $799, set by the number of pages on your site.
These are MW Marketers’ published fees, not an industry-wide average. Other providers may charge differently because their audit scope and deliverables differ.
What changes the price of an SEO audit?
Six practical factors can change what an audit costs. The right column gives the question to ask each provider.
| What changes | The price goes up when | Ask the provider |
|---|---|---|
| Page count | More pages must be crawled and reviewed | How many pages does this price cover, and what changes if my site is larger? |
| Depth of manual review | A person reads pages and judges the findings, not just a tool report | Does a person review the report before I receive it? |
| Site type | The site has product filters, several languages or custom code that create many URL variations | How do you handle duplicate and parameter URLs? |
| What you receive | You get ranked findings and an action plan, not a raw export | Are findings ranked by priority, and is there a plan I can hand to a developer? |
| Support after delivery | A walkthrough call or video, or a re-audit, is included | What happens if I have questions after the report arrives? |
| Turnaround | The work is rushed | Is the delivery date fixed in writing? |
These factors come from how audits are scoped. This article does not measure how much each one changes the price. Page count is the one factor with a published price attached (see the MW Marketers table below).
What should an SEO audit quote include?
A usable quote answers six core points in writing. The quote checker below uses these same six:
- A person reviews the report before you receive it.
- Example pages are listed for each issue, so you can see the problem for yourself.
- Findings are ranked by priority, in plain English.
- An action plan says what to fix first and can be handed to a developer.
- Support after delivery is stated (a call, a video or written answers to questions).
- The quote says whether fixing the issues is included or priced separately.
Also ask (not part of the checker):
- How many pages the price covers. The checker asks for this as a number.
- What is reviewed: technical setup (how search engines crawl and index the site), on-page elements (titles, descriptions, headings, content) and internal links. A provider may cover some of these and not others.
- When the report will be delivered.
Many audits stop at the report. If a quote does not say whether fixing the issues is included, assume it is separate work and ask. If your site runs on WordPress and you expect to need development help afterwards, MW Marketers also lists WordPress development services.
Can you run an SEO audit yourself?
Often, for a small site. Google says a small local business can probably do much of the work itself, starting with its SEO Starter Guide (Google Search Central, “Do you need an SEO?”, last updated June 5, 2026). Google Search Console is free and provides information about which pages Google has indexed, along with reports on certain indexing and search-performance issues. Free versions of site crawling tools can also list technical issues. You can find more step-by-step SEO guides on the MW Marketers blog.
Free tools can find and flag technical issues, and some assign their own priority levels. But an automated priority is not the same as a business-specific action plan. Someone still needs to assess which findings matter most, which are worth fixing first, and how they affect the site’s search performance. That assessment is the part you pay for in a reviewed audit.
Author’s judgment, as decision rules. These cutoffs are practical starting points based on the author’s judgment. They are not industry standards.
- Under about 50 pages and no recent redesign or migration: start with a free crawl and Google’s starter guide.
- About 50 to 500 pages: a paid audit makes sense if you cannot act on a crawl report yourself, or if traffic dropped after a redesign or migration.
- Over about 500 pages, or a store with product filters: duplicate and parameter URLs multiply quickly, so a paid audit is easier to justify.
How do you check an SEO audit quote?
Compare quotes for the same site by checking the pages covered, the depth of manual review, and the deliverables. The checker below counts how many of the six core points a quote states and lists the questions you still need to ask. It also shows price per page. Price per page can provide additional context, but it does not measure audit quality or show whether two providers are offering the same work. The checker only records what a quote says. It cannot verify that the provider actually does the work. It stores nothing and sends nothing.

Check what the quote actually says it includes. Price per page is shown last, as secondary context. Nothing you type is stored or sent anywhere.
Without the tool: first get the number of pages the audit covers. Then divide the quoted price by the number of pages, and check which of these six core points the quote states. Scope matters more than the per page figure.
- Does a person review the report before I receive it, or is it a tool export?
- Will I see example URLs for each issue?
- Are the findings ranked by priority, and by what rule?
- Is there an action plan I can hand to a developer?
- What support is included after delivery (call, video or written Q&A)?
- Is fixing the issues in this price, or priced separately?
Reference prices published by MW Marketers (SEO Audit page, checked November 3, 2026). MW Marketers sells SEO audits, so use these as a reference point only. The live SEO Audit page counts pages its own way, so the price shown there may differ from this table.
| Pages on the site | Published audit price (USD) |
|---|---|
| 1 to 299 | $199 |
| 300 to 500 | $299 |
| 501 to 999 | $499 |
| 1,000 to 20,000 | $799 |
Illustrative only. This tool does not judge whether a quote is fair, and it does not predict rankings, traffic or revenue. Formula: price per page equals the quoted price divided by the pages covered.
Two examples, both hypothetical:
- A 120-page site quoted at $600 works out to $5.00 per page.
- A 2,000-page site quoted at $1,200 works out to $0.60 per page.
Neither figure is automatically better value. A $0.60 per page quote might be a short automated export, and a $5.00 per page quote might include manual review, ranked findings and an action plan. The per page figure also falls as sites get bigger, because some of the work is fixed. So use it only as a secondary reference when comparing quotes for the same site, never to compare one site with another.
What are the red flags in an SEO audit quote?
Google's guidance on hiring an SEO (Google Search Central, last updated June 5, 2026) discusses several warning signs and recommends limiting access to what the work requires:
- A promise of a number one ranking. Google says no one can guarantee it.
- A claim of a special relationship with Google, or a "priority submit" offer.
- An unsolicited email offering SEO help.
- A firm that will not explain what it plans to do.
- A request for more access than the job needs. For an audit, Google advises granting only read access to Search Console.
When is paying for an SEO audit not worth it?
Author's judgment:
- You will not act on the findings. An audit that sits in a folder changes nothing.
- The site is small and new. A free crawl will find the obvious problems.
- The real problem is not technical. If the site has little content or few people searching for what you sell, an audit will not fix that. If your goal is to appear for local searches, local SEO services are a different kind of work from an audit.
- You need the issues fixed, not listed. Check whether the provider does the fixing, and at what price.
An audit also never promises rankings, traffic or revenue. It tells you what is wrong and what to do first. What happens after depends on the fixes, the competition and time.
What does MW Marketers charge for an SEO audit?
The following is MW Marketers' published SEO audit pricing, taken from the SEO Audit page as of November 3, 2026. It is a reference for this specific service, not an industry-wide benchmark.
MW Marketers SEO audit fee by number of pages
A horizontal bar chart on a dollar scale from 0 to 800 dollars. 1 to 299 pages costs 199 dollars. 300 to 500 pages costs 299 dollars. 501 to 999 pages costs 499 dollars. 1,000 to 20,000 pages costs 799 dollars. 1 to 299 pages: $199 300 to 500 pages: $299 501 to 999 pages: $499 1,000 to 20,000 pages: $799 $0$200$400$600$800| Pages on the site | Audit price (USD) |
|---|---|
| 1 to 299 | $199 |
| 300 to 500 | $299 |
| 501 to 999 | $499 |
| 1,000 to 20,000 | $799 |
Each audit is one fee set by page count. The report covers a technical review, an on-page review and an internal linking review, with up to two example URLs for each issue, findings ranked by priority in plain English, and an action plan with a 90-day tracker. A person reviews every report. A walkthrough by recorded video or live call is an optional add-on, and a re-audit of the same site costs half price within 180 days of the original. Sites with more than 20,000 pages can still order the $799 audit, which covers up to 20,000 pages. Your quote and the confirmation box at checkout show the page limit that applies before you pay. The report is delivered within 24 hours after payment is confirmed. The SEO Audit page gives you a free estimate of your page count and shows your price before you pay.
How pages are counted. Before you pay, the SEO Audit page gives you a free estimate of your site's page count. It checks the sitemap information it finds and, when no sitemap is available, follows internal links. It excludes URLs with query strings, links to other websites, and files such as images and PDFs. The counter stops at 1,000, so larger sites show "1,000 or more pages" rather than an exact total. The audit crawler has a separate limit: it can crawl up to 20,000 HTML pages that load. Redirects, error pages and files do not use up that limit.
Fixing the issues is not included in the audit price. The report and action plan show what to fix and in what order, so you or your developer can make the changes.
FAQ about SEO audit pricing
Is a cheap SEO audit a bad sign?
Not by itself. A low price can reflect a small site or a lighter report. Check the page count, who reviews the findings and what you receive before judging the price.
Does an SEO audit include fixing the problems?
Many audits stop at the report. Ask whether fixing the issues is included in the price or priced separately. At MW Marketers, fixing the issues is not included in the audit price.
Can I do an SEO audit myself?
For a small site, often yes. Google says a small local business can probably do much of the work itself, and free tools can crawl a site and flag problems. A tool's automated priority is not the same as a plan built for your business, so someone still has to decide what to fix first.
What should you do next?
- Check your estimated page count. The SEO Audit page gives you a free estimate and shows the applicable price before you pay.
- Ask each provider the six core questions in the quote checker, and write the answers down.
- Run each quote through the checker. Compare scope first, and treat price per page as a secondary check for the same site.
